Su labor investigadora ha estado centrada en el campo de la delincuencia juvenil, de las aplicaciones de la Justicia restaurativa en Justicia juvenil y de la evaluación del riesgo en el ámbito de las migraciones. Dentro de su actividad investigadora ha participado en proyectos europeos como  Achilles heel: victimisation uneasiness and delinquent behaviour in minors immigrants , o el contrato de investigación para la Agencia europea de Derechos Fundamentales:  Experience of discrimination, social marginalisation and violence: a comparative study of Muslim and non-Muslim youth in three EU member states , y en la actualidad participa en el proyecto Erasmus+ CARE  Accompanying the Careleavers in a path of Autonomy, Resilience and Empowerment .  A raíz de la experiencia docente coordinación de la licenciatura en Criminología en Portugal  (ISMAI- Instituto Universitario da Maia y Universidade Fernando Pessoa durante 3 años llevó a cabo un proyecto comparativo sobre justicia restaurativa en jóvenes; un diagnostico local de seguridad en Oporto; además de participar en el equipo investigador del proyecto internacional de delincuencia juvenil auto-reportada:  the International Self-reported Delinquency  en su tercera y cuarta version (ISRD3 y ISRD4).  Obtuvo una beca Marie- Curie de investigación en University of Stirling, Escocia, en 2003; y ha realizado una estancia de investigación en Hamburgh University, Alemania, en 2018. Actualmente coordina el grupo de investigación sobre Migraciones en la Universidad Loyola Andalucía. Es miembro del grupo de trabajo sobre  Immigration, Crime and Social Citinzenship  de la  European Society of Criminology ; y del grupo  Sanciones penales y medidas alternativas a prisión  en la Sociedad Española de Investigación Criminológica. Her research work has focused on the field of juvenile delinquency, the applications of restorative justice in juvenile justice and risk assessment in the field of migration. Within her research activity she has participated in European projects such about victimization, uneasiness and delinquent behaviour in minors immigrants; a research contract for the European Agency for Fundamental Rights about the experience of discrimination, social marginalisation and violence in Muslim and non-Muslim youth; and she is currently participating in the Erasmus+ CARE project Accompanying the Careleavers in a path of Autonomy, Resilience and Empowerment.  As a result of her teaching experience, she coordinated the degree in Criminology in Portugal (ISMAI- Instituto Universitario da Maia and Universidade Fernando Pessoa) for 3 years and she carried out comparative projects on restorative justice in young people; a Local Security Diagnosis in Porto; and she is participating in the Portuguese research team of the International Self-reported Delinquency in its third and fouth version (ISRD3 and ISRD4) in Portugal.  She was awarded a Marie-Curie Research Fellowship at the University of Stirling, Scotland, in 2003; and has undertaken a research stay at Hamburgh University, Germany, in 2018. She currently coordinates the research group on Migration at the Universidad Loyola Andalucía. She is a member of the working group on Immigration, Crime and Social Citinzenship of the European Society of Criminology; and member of the group on Criminal Sanctions and Alternative Measures to Prison in the Spanish Society of Criminological Research.
