Mario Wenning obtained his PhD from the New School for Social Research in New York and pursued MA studies in Montreal and Münster. In addition to being a Humboldt Research Fellow in Frankfurt, he worked in Macau for over a decade. His research focuses on social, political and environmental philosophy within the Critical Theory tradition. He is also interested in Chinese philosophy and Sino-European dialogue. Recent publications include the coedited volumes "The Human-Animal Boundary" (Lexington, 2018, 2021), "Environmental Philosophy and East Asia" (Routledge, 2022), "The Right to Resist" (Bloomsbury, 2023), and "Intercultural Philosophy and Environmental Justice between Generations" (Cambridge University Press, 2024). He has been a visiting scholar at institutions such as Kyoto University, UC Berkeley, SYSU Guangzhou, and Fudan University in Shanghai. Additionally, he is a co-organizer of the global research network Nature-Time-Responsibility, which promotes intercultural dialogue on environmental philosophy and intergenerational justice.
