Abstract The virtues are a central theme in Suárez\'s ethics or moral philosophy. This article explores his general conception of the ethical virtues as well as their articulation with the intellectual virtues. In showing these two points we cannot avoid the relationship with other scholastic authors, Suárez\'s continuity with the classical approach and his original contribution. This will help us to continue assessing Suaretian proposal in its proper terms and beyond hasty judgements, its unavoidable Catholic framework and its originality with respect to the Aristotelian-Thomistic tradition. © 2023 Instituto Teologico de Caceres, Universidad de Extremadura.
