Abstract During the period of university education, students gradually develop a more or less wide range of general competencies which are transverse to subjects, contents and learning methodologies. In order to determine how the progressive acquisition of competencies takes place, this study develops a methodology of analysis and evaluation. For this purpose, a questionnaire of 13 general competences, based on 89 observed, quantifiable and scalable behaviours, has been designed and validated. The questionnaire has been applied to 273 students of different academic years of the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (BBA). Results show significant differences in students\' competence profiles of several academic years. The five competences which have higher differentiated developments are: use of ICT, verbal communication, written communication, interpersonal communication and innovation. This confirms the hypothesis of a differentiated and progressive development of competence through the graduate university training.
