Abstract People with disabilities face numerous barriers to participate in adapted, specific and/or inclusive sports on a daily basis, as a result of accessibility, transport, awareness, finances and physical and cognitive impairments. A lack of involvement in physical-sports activities of people with Intellectual Disabilities means inadequate health and can even lead to social exclusion. Therefore, the present work aims to carry out a bibliometric review related to the practice of sport in people with intellectual disabilities in the Web of Science database, identifying studies from 1964 to the year 2022. The results show an exponential growth in the number of documents published between 2006 and 2022, as there has been a 49% increase in the number of publications compared to previous years. In addition, 85% of the documents are in English, the main authors being Van Biesen and Weiss, and with respect to the institutions are: Spain -England and Iceland -Canada -USA. Therefore, this subject is in full bloom with the aim of knowing and analysing the benefits that sport produces in people with disabilities.
