Abstract The article “In search of a comparative Christian social thought” seeks to propose a methodology to elaborate a comparative Christian social thought. To this end, it explores two sources of inspiration: the sub-discipline of comparative religious ethics proper to the sciences of religions, and the current of comparative theology. Comparative religious ethics offers a powerful theoretical reflection on the problem of a method for comparability, and comparative theology allows us to reinterpret this method in order to guarantee its theological and confessional character. By taking elements from both sources and combining them we can present a sufficiently systematized method that starts from categories of comparison proper to political thought that are illuminated in the comparative look between Christianity and other religious traditions. © 2024 Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid.
